Summary: Poor support
Comment: Don't try getting repair parts from Swisher. You can't get most of them. They don't sell through other distributors so you can't get them from there either. The cheezy little staples that hold the line on mine broke. After welding them a few times, I tried to buy a new disk. Nope. Can't. It's a simple device. Motor, belt, disk and a couple wheels. Works OK for what it is, discounting the cheap B&S engine that's designed to last one season and be unrepairable at any reasonable cost.

I got it to do heavy brush around a fence line. Works for that. It isn't a mower. No easy height control. Too heavy and unwieldy for general whacking. Lines break frequently at the staples rather than wearing out. Bad design. Pick something else or glue some wheels on your week whacker.

Summary: This is not a grass trimmer, it is a grass REMOVER!
Comment: The place I work bought this trimmer for me to use to keep our 1 acre yard trimmed nicely and to give me some back relief from a handheld. I assembled it, followed and read the provided handbook. This is AFTER rummaging around the box to find all the parts that were loosely rolling around.
NOTE TO WHO PACKS THIS: When using a ziplock bag to contain items, remember to ZIP the bag closed after inserting the contents, duh!
After using a handheld trimmer for eons, I could not wait to give this back saver a "whirl".
Part of the yard I landscape is relatively smooth and other parts around the irrigation ditch are rough and hilly with a lot of trees.
I found that IF you rest the front guide (little black thing under the string) on the ground, the strings literally lay on the ground. I mentally noted this before I even started and thought to myself, "Man, that is going to be a close trim". I double checked the manual of how to adjust this.
FACT: The trimming part is too close to the ground and there is no way to adjust this. I didn't tape measure the clearance from string to ground but speculating this is an inch or inch and a half. (at most)
Through trial and error, I figured out that I had to push down on the handle to raise the front end. This method produces bad control of the machine and you get a very, very uneven cut. If the front guide remains rested on the ground even in smooth areas, it trims the grass to the dirt. The ONLY solution is to not use that front guide and try and maneuver this machine around while pushing down on it. After a short time, this gets tiring. Also, by doing this, the shield that keeps debris from flying back at you, gets dragged on the ground and it actually whips around if it hits something. This plastic piece (I can foresee) will NOT last long!
This is a very poor designed machine. I would like if whoever came up with this machine to come and SHOW me how to get an even cut by using the operation manual suggestions.
FACT: They would not be able to!
That tilting head feature is a farce. Yes, it tilts alright, it tilts to one side or the other on it's own and you have a nice bald half circle on your yard. I have bared down at trying to tighten it so it doesn't flop around like a chicken with it's head cut off to NO avail!
I wanted a Craftman's model of this push type trimmer but it was on back order so I ended up with this one.
It is NOT labor saving. It does not cut evenly. I ran out of gas after 2 hours of operation. TIGHTEN and RE-TIGHTEN everything before you use it again. It shakes and shimmies every nut, bolt, and screw loose during operation.
The clippings are tossed back on top of and all over the machine. (constantly cleaning debis off of it)
Also, it is LOUD! Want to annoy your neighbor? Crank this baby up early in the morning and you can annoy a couple blocks of neighbors!
If you CARE what your yard will look like, do not buy this unit. You would have better control with a hand held model or a push trimmer that is higher off the ground. Swisher added a little bottle of oil, safety glasses and some string with this machine BUT forgot to add a couple ton of grass seed to REPLANT your yard.
1 star because it started on the 4th pull! It may be good for someone clearing weeds but for grooming your yard...FORGETABOUTIT!

Summary: Be afraid ... be very afraid.
Comment: I'm comparing this unit to my old Troy-bilt (MTD) trimmer/mower and the Swisher fails miserably. The bearing went out in the spindle of my beloved Troy-Bilt and I'm unable to get the replacement part, which is terribly disabpointing. My old trimmer idled when the engine was running, but the head didn't spin until the bar was pulled back and the idler applied tension to the belt. The Swisher's head is spinning as soon as you crank it and you cannot idle. I hate this. What's worse about the Swisher is that the cutting depth is non-adjustable. It cuts at about 1.5 inches and every stick or gumball becomes a dangerous projectile. Heaven forbid you pick up a rock. Hide the wife, kids, pets, cars and windows when using the Swisher trimmer. The entire deck of the Troy-Bilt was shrouded, but had a "spout" for the discharge. Some debris accumulated under the deck, but it was worth it. The Swisher has a flimsey "one-third" shroud, leaving two-thirds of the head completely exposed (see above comment about dangerous projectiles.) A bolt in the shaft of the Swisher prevents the shroud from being adjusted to an appropriate position, so long pants and high boots are needed because a lot of debris flies out the back of the mower, underneath the shroud (see above comment about dangerous projectiles.) I haven't even used the tiltable head feature yet, but other reviews indicate that it's problematic too, as the u-bolt doesn't hold the head in place properly. My overall opinion is this unit might be useful for someone who has a nice, clear, level patch of grass or weeds to mow. I used my previous trimmer/mower to mow a thinly wooded area with numerous trees. It was perfect for trimming the bases of the trees. But with trees like this you have sticks and gumballs, which become (you guessed it) dangerous projectiles when using the Swisher trimmer/mower. I think good folks at Swisher should have forgotten about the fancy pivoting head - which apparently doesn't work well anyway - and concentrated more on some safety and convenience features that would make this trimmer more usable. This unit is poorly thought out and designed.

Summary: Swisher ST65022DXQ TRIM MAX Trimmer Mower
Comment: I bought this mower because I had a riding mower by the same company and was satisfied. I have used this mower for around an accumulated eight hours.
On the plus side, the mower has a fairly simple design and is easy to use. The engine has plenty of power to mow weeds and can generally be run at a low rpm. At a low rpm, the line seems to last longer than a smaller trimmer mower I have owned.
On the minus side, the U bolt assembly used to adjust the tilting was broken on arival. Also while assembling the mower, I found an axel plate was placed on the mower backwards at the factory so I had to correct that during assembly, The grass guard is made of plastic and is roughly half deteriorated from objects striking its surface. It has thrown its drive belt once.

well on flat surface.

Editorial Reviews:

The Swish 6.5 HP Trim Max trimmer mower is designed to reduce back stress associated with hand-held mowers, yet it provides three to four times the power for effectively trimming overgrown edges and mowing high weeds and lawns. Equipped with a 6 HP Briggs & Stratton engine, the Trim Max maneuvers rugged landscapes and manicured lawns with ease. While many other standing trimmer mowers feature sharp steel blades, the Trim Max uses a .155-inch diameter cutting line for greater safety. Users can adjust the line's tension belt for better performance and extended belt life. The trimmer mower cuts a wide 22-inch swath and automatically turns off when idle, saving fuel and adding further safety. Powdercoat paint covers all metal parts for greater durability. The trimmer head is located on the left side of the mower while 14-inch wheels allow the trimmer mower to turn corners deftly while providing clearance in rougher terrain. To prevent debris from clustering around the machine, Swisher built a debris guard onto the rear of the trimmer mower. The Trim Max also benefits from easy care as all bearings are sealed, so there's no need for lubrication. The simple task of replacing the cutting line requires no tools, and the trimmer mower runs on regular unleaded gasoline.

What's in the Box
Mower, one container of engine oil, replacement trimmer line, and protective goggles.
