Summary: Great saw
Comment: This saw is fantastic. I had a Craftsman contractor saw that was 25 years old, so I was due a new saw. After much research comparing contractor and cabinet saws, I settled on the cabinet. The next decision was how much horsepower I wanted. I finally settled on 3 HP and I'm glad I did. I can't believe the difference between my old contractor style saw and my new Grizzly. This is a great saw for the money compared to competitors comparable models. It is very quiet and the cuts are unbelievable. You won't be sorry with this saw.

Summary: Grizzly = poor product QA & support
Comment: Pathetic. If you buy anything with the Grizzly brand you'd better hope you get a product that works. Further, I have experienced some pretty bad customer support (haven't we all) but I've never experienced one as inept as Grizzly's. The only good news is that they are fairly easy to get on the phone and seemingly helpful ... and it stops there ... they just can't seem to get the job done! I purchased a Grizzly product in June of this year. Obviously the manufacturer of the product changed the design and did not change the product number or the assembly instructions. It took me a while to get them to recognize that they had a problem that it might be in THEIR OWN SELF INTEREST to address ... i.e. that every unit they had in inventory probably has the same problem. This is particularly interesting in that another customer who wrote a review had the problem BEFORE I did. After numerous phone calls and weeks they FINALLY admitted they had a problem and that they would get me new instructions and a $50 gift certificate. (I think the $50 gift certificate would amount to probably $2 per hour ... an insult, not a "gift" ... after all I did help them find their own problem and should have saved them numerous more customer support problems). The revised instructions came after another month or so and were nothing more than some dimensions for me to modify the product which needed another phone call or two to get an interpretation for (I hope they did better with the remaining units in inventory). To add a little more salt to the wound I finally actually received the gift certificate on October 14th (with inadequate postage) and it was for $25. It doesn't matter as I won't step foot in another Grizzly show room to use it.

Summary: Awesome Saw, Awesome Customer Service
Comment: My 1023SL was delivered a week or so ago. The top and extension wings were, of course, slathered in grease. However, on the top of one of the extension wings was a stringy splotch of what looked like tar.

I cleaned everything off and found that the tar substance had stained the surface. No raised area, but a sizable stain nonetheless.

I emailed Griz customer service letting them know. They emailed me back asking for a picture. I send them digitial photos a week later and received a email telling me they were sorry and a new wing was on the way.

Excellent service as always.

The saw itself is easy to setup. The fence is tight and accurate with no adjustments required for me out of the box. Overall, the saw itself is tight and accurate.

Summary: Couldn't Be More Pleased!
Comment: I bought this table saw through Amazon about two weeks ago and couldn't be more happy. I was a little concerned about the shipping problems mentioned elsewhere, but mine came in perfect condition. Yea, it was shipped with a wood crate bottom with carboard/foam sides, but as long as the shipper is reasonably careful, this shouldn't be a problem. The table top was beautifully machined and is as good or better than the Jet or Powermatic table saws I saw at Rockler.

The motor is nice and powerful and the heigth and angle adjustments are smooth and accurate. The ShopFox fence is heavy duty and accurate. The table saw came almost perfectly aligned, and after about 1/2 hour I had the alignment dead on. Total setup time was about 2 hours including alignment. The only reservation I have is that the miter gauge is kind of chintz, but still decent. I still can't believe these guys can provide so much saw for under $1000. I bought a Bench Dog router table attachement at the same time for $300. Trust me, this a way better value than the Bench Dog router attachment which gets rave reviews. If you buy this saw, you won't be disappointed assuming it dosesn't get wacked during shipping. It's really nice to get a great deal on something.

Summary: Defective table top
Comment: I read all the review and decided to go with this saw. After cleaning the table I noticed pitting in the top. Also noticed machining lines. Very dissapointed at the Quality control on this unit. The fence was also messed up. They sent me a new side for the fence but wanted to send another saw to replace the unit I have.. After waiting 4 wks to get it now having to wait 4-6 wks more it just doesnt seem like a company I want to continue business with . I offered to send the top back in exchange for a replacement but that would require me to buy one up front wait for it to arrive and then send this one back for credit. Give me a break. They made the defective top and now they want me the customer to be out additional money to get it fixed. If I had it to do over I would buy something else. After buying this I have looked at different brands and the finish and quality of their table top far exceeds this one. I have yet to put a blade on it or even the fence so I cant comment on the performance. I also found loose parts down in the cabinet. They told be what they were for but I would have to take apart the unit to see if mine had them . They could be extra or they could be needed dont know until I pull the unit apart to see. I feel like I bought this thing at a flea market.

Editorial Reviews:

Built with the same heavy steel cabinet and cast iron table as the extremely popular Model G1023S, this left-tilting saw became an instant hit when introduced last year. Just as with the G1023S, the motor is 3HP, single-phase, 220V and has a triple-belt pulley. The blade splitter has been redesigned from that of the G1023S for even easier adjustments, and the accurate and dependable Shop Fox Classic fence also comes as standard equipment.
