Customer Rating: Summary: Also used for grilling/smoking Comment: Ok, similar to other reviewer, I don't use these for welding. Instead I use them to handle wood and the water tray in my offset firebox smoker. I still don't trust them to handle flaming wood, but smouldering logs or very hot water trays are fine. They brush off water very easily as well. The long gauntlets cover enough of my arm that I've actually regrown my forearm hair since getting them. They are thin and flexible enough to give pretty good tactile feel to handling most large items, and sturdy enough that I haven't yet burned my finger tips. Much better than my old solution of dunking my cheap leather garden/work gloves in the water bucket before quickly grabbing the wood/tray before the water evaporated and my fingers burned.
Another use I've put them to is wrestling with my dog (Shiba Inu). They are thick enough that she can bite down pretty hard without hurting me and long enough up my arms that her claws don't scratch up my arm. She knows not to bite my hands when we wrestle, but also knows she can get rough and bite hard when the gloves come out. Now if I can just get her to stop tackling me when I'm working on the smoker instead of playing with her....
Customer Rating: Summary: Grill master Comment: I don't really do any welding, I am using these to handle hot stuff on my grill. For that they work great. After heating up metal racks and trays to a few hundred degrees I pick them up with confidence using these gloves.
The fingers are very nice and flexable and they insulate well without too much weight. With a good flick of the arm you can also throw them off easily (important for you if you are actually doing welding). They can get a little warm inside, but I don't see any way they couldn't.
Overall, a good product for the price.

Top-grain leather gloves protect against welding hazards. Extra-long to protect wrists and forearms. One size fits all.
