Customer Rating: Summary: tiny dancer Comment: i love this tool, it is great when you need to trim something small, wood or a metal threshold or cut a bolt. the hack saw blades are well made. i have also used it for cutting baseboard on the wall. it is slow enough to control.. good tool for me, thanks makita
Customer Rating: Summary: Get the version with battery and charger Comment: I bought this baretool then I discovered Amazon has the same tool with battery and charger for the same price. And both are Amazon Prime. Hmm. Which should you buy?
Customer Rating: Summary: Classic Tool Comment: It looks dated compared to the cordless tools of today, but this shouldn't stop you from getting one. This reciprocating saw gets more use then my 18volt and corded sawzalls. It's lightweight and less bulky, and it'll cut just about anything - wood, metal, plastic, etc. This little guy will cut a 2x4 if you really need it to. I've used it many times to notch out lumber. The trick is to brace the tool with it's fence or just hold it firmly. And don't be dissuaded by the 9.6 volts. This baby will cut and cut. It's a very efficient design. The wood cutting blade is great, but the metal blade is prone to breaking. The saw does show its age with the hex screw that holds down the blade, and so changing blades is not as fast as modern jigsaws. I'm in the trades so I personally own two - each ready with the correct blade. $80 might seem high for the do-it-yourself'er, but do you really want to get crankin with a hand saw? It'll pay for itself in the time savings. This is simply a great all around cutter.
