Summary: Gets the job done affordably
Comment: Bought this unit at a local large hardware store when it went on sale. You would be crazy to try cultivating a large chunk of land with this little thing, but for someone who just wants to cultivate a small plot to grow some vegetables or plant some grass, this unit works great as it's affordable, stores easily, and gets the job done. In my case, I've cultivated some virgin land about 200 square feet or so. It was rough going, but no more so than weed whacking a large portion of wild growth, to make a comparison. This is as the cultivator rests on the ground so not too heavy, just rather unwieldy to handle.

My trimmer motor is a troy-bilt 31cc 2-cycle unit. There is just the right amount of power. You do have to go full throttle in the harder packed areas and rocks will make the adventure quite unfun. Once the ground is broken, it will be much, much, easier to cultivate through though. In any event, good value for me as I wont be cultivating more than a few times per season anyhow, and I get to enjoy some great vegetables!

Update: Have expanded garden ground to about 500 square feet total. While I wouldn't say it was a breeze to break the virgin ground, this machine definitely did not have any trouble going through it.

Summary: Great for 15 minutes
Comment: This product worked wonderfully for the 15 minutes that it worked. I bought several different troy-bilt attachments for my string trimmer, and all of them except the string trimmer itself have failed. This product, like all of the troy-bilt attachments, seems to have a collar swaged onto the drive shaft that is probably intended to prevent damage to the motor head if you hit a rock. The problem is that instead of giving way only under imminent damage, vibration allows it to move and causes the drive shaft to lose contact with the motor head.

Summary: Great light duty tiller
Comment: This was a replacement tiller for my Ryobi. It is basically the same. While it is not light, like a purpose made Mantis, it is a handy addition to my string trimmer/blower/edger/brush cutter set of Ryobi. Suggest that you use the over the shoulder strap to help offset the weight of the attachment. I use mine for my raised vegetable garden and compost heap. Works well in these applications. Too small for a whole yard, but if you have a small area that the larger tiller cannot get into, this is a perfect choice.

Summary: TILLER ATTACHMENT
Comment: WORKS GREAT BUT NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.
HANG ON IF YOU HIT ROCKS.

Summary: Great attachment!!
Comment: I have a Ryobi powerhead attached to my cultivator. It works great. I have a small planter 3'X 35' that I got it for. I was impressed at the job it does. I expected a power hoe, but this will turn soil. The only drawback is the clearance between the blades and cover. I got a small rock wedged. The blades are easy enough to pull the pins to release the pressure. They are held to the shaft with pins and spring clip cotter pins. It is a little heavy, but that is good for tilling, less effort to keep it in the soil.

Editorial Reviews:

Whether you want to break ground on a new vegetable patch or simply maintain existing beds, the Troy-Bilt add-on cultivator is perfectly scaled to the smaller garden where light weight and maneuverability are key. The 8-spoke design and sturdy, heat-treated 8-inch tines dig deep into even firmly packed soil, while the sealed, heavy-duty gearbox and D-clip tine retention system reduce maintenance needs. The unit has an adjustable tilling width from 5-to-9-inches, and easily fits between garden rows to cultivate and weed. The attachment is covered by a 2-year limited warranty.
