Comment: Having worked in and around machine shops all my life, the name Starrett became synonymous with quality. Recently, however, I purchased a Starrett Miter Saw Protractor model 505A-7 and was shocked to find that Starrett is no long is concerned about accuracy. The instrument I purchased was clearly off my at least one half degree while the package label screams "laser engraved accuracy". My research indicates Starrett knows of this issue and has chosen to ignore it; seems wood workers do not "require accuracy" according to Starrett.
This could have been a really great new product. It is novel and well made but I would advise Starrett to track down the person in their organization that developed it and "fire" him. Everything a company produces reflects that company's image and this one says Starrett has developed a new business strategy, "caveat emptor ".

Comment: This tool eliminates all trial-and-error from cutting crown molding, cabinet making, and other critical carpentry jobs. It is as precise and accurate as my radial arm saw and my chop saw, and it requires no batteries, it fits in my back pocket and is as dependable as my square. Great tool!

Comment: This product makes an novice look like a pro! It makes mitering easy as reading a scale and transferring that number to the miter saw.........perfect each and every time. Wishin' I had this yards of stock ago.

Takes error-prone calculations out of the process of miter cuts to ensure perfect miter joints every time! Simply set your miter saw to the angle that you read. Upside down or backwards, the reading is always correct. Features two scales: red scale and arrow show the angle for a miter joint, while the black arrow and scale provide the angle to fit a single workpiece to an angle. Durable aluminum with Teflon O-ring for smooth and positive operation. Patented.
