Customer Rating: Summary: Dewalt Cordless 16-Gauge Straight Finish nailer Comment: I purchased the cordless Finish Nailer and Cordless Drill Driver combo kit for my husband. He does a lot of remodeling and repair on our two homes. He is very pleased with the Finish Nailer. He says it is a little heavy but you get used to that but the convenience is awesome. He is pleased with the power of both tools. I will definetly buy more Dewalt cordless power tools for him.
Customer Rating: Summary: just what the doctor ordered Comment: I am a trim carpenter and I use trim nailers all day and I am impressed. I have a paslode impulse brad nailer and it has been junk since day 2. I use the dewalt every day along with my air powered nailers and I am pleased with it. I now own 2 of them . I got one at lowes wiyh a drill for 230$ and one at home depot with a saw for 220$ could not pass up a good deal. I would buy another but I only have 2 hands.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great durable tool Comment: I purchased this gun for a particular job in which hauling air-hoses around and moving a compressor every ten minutes simply wasn't an option. I was a bit hesitant, thinking that a battery-powered nail gun might not be as powerful as I would need, and that adjusting the depth-of-drive would be a nightmare. I was pleasantly surprised when I used the gun all day on the same battery (probably about 350 nails). You're limited--of course--by the fact that you can only drive 16 gauge nails (as opposed to having the option of having a brad-nailer, stapler, etc, with conventional compressors and air-hoses), but having a nailer that doesn't take any set-up time is very valuable. I've already used it for other projects where I needed a few nails here and there, and didn't want the hassle of setting up a compressor. The nailer has some headlights which--believe it or not--came in handy on a few occasions. The other nice feature about the nailer, is that the battery doesn't seem to gradually fade. It fires nails at the same rate and same speed all day, then stops when the battery has reached its end. This is a must-have for any contractor who has to install door casing on one door at one job, then go to another job to install some other finish work. You'll save ten or fifteen minutes every time you use it. It's a bit pricy, but a great value. Anyone who would keep a tool this expensive in a bag needs to have their head examined. DeWalt should continue offering high-end tools that come with a hard-plastic carrying case; that's one of the reasons that I am a DeWalt fan--I want to protect my investment. Great tool at a reasonable price, and it comes with an 18 volt drill as well.

The drill/driver is perfect when you need power, but you don’t want to hoist a ton. Here’s the answer. DeWalt’s revamped 18-volt compact drill/driver delivers on both counts, with a 1/2-inch chuck that grips beefy bits, an 18-position adjustable clutch, and a high-performance motor for the torque you need, packaged in a truly lightweight, comfortable drill. The variable speed has a high and low range for any application, and the reverse switch is right above the curved trigger for easy access. The included charger juices up a spent battery in an hour. We especially like the light weight, even more so because it doesn’t cost in the power department. Lots of pluses: on-board bit storage, two batteries, hard case. We think contractors will be pleased with this drill, especially after a long day. When pneumatic tools first became popular, we thought that was pretty much the best innovation ever. Now that’s what we’re saying about the finish nailer in this great combo kit, because it combines the ultimate power of pneumatics with the unparalleled convenience of cordless technology. This 16-gauge nailer packs in the absolute best of both worlds, giving you the ease of air-powered nailing but the freedom of cordless tools: no compressor, no hoses, no electricity, no generator. And the best part is that you sacrifice nothing for all the gains. This nailer gives you both sequential firing for exact placement as well as a bump-fire mode that shoots as fast as you can go. Loading any brand of straight nails is fast and easy as can be with the rear-load magazine, and should you experience a jam, clearing it is quick and tool-free. Perhaps the greatest innovation is the absence of fuel cells with this technology; though they definitely get the job done, they’re expensive and take some care to maintain. With this nailer, all you need is a charged battery. The tradeoff, we suppose, is that this is heavier than a standard pneumatic, of course, but quite honestly, we didn’t mind.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste What’s in the Box Heavy-duty XRP 1-1/4 to 2-1/2-inch 18-volt cordless 16-gauge straight finish nailer, heavy-duty 1/2-inc 18-volt cordless compact drill/driver, two 18-volt battery packs, charger, carrying case
