Summary: Small but efficient
Comment: The B-6A1 ceramic space heater is one of the best I have used over many years experience...It far exceeds those which cost less, such as the one's offered at Lowe's, Home Depot, K-Mart, Wal-Mart and elsewhere...In my opinion it is better buildt and puts out more heat than others...It is also far quieter and has a varible temp. selector...You will find that this heater cost more, but you only get what you pay for...It will give you years of good service..

Summary: A great heater with exceptionally poor control access
Comment: About a month ago, the space heater I've been using under my large executive desk in my office simply gave up the ghost. I had purchased it from Quill before they sold out to Office Depot. My old heater was about the same size as the Original Disc Heater by Pelonis. But, it also had exceptional thermostat control to actually turn itself off at the desired temperature. The Pelonis does not.
I'm sure you want to know if this heater will work efficiently? Yes. This product has been around for years. However let me cut to the chase: Where do you think the controls are located? In the front where they should be? Think again. To turn the unit on, change the temperature, or to access ANY control, you must reach around the top of the unit going to the far back, directly behind the heat outlet (which is producing some very hot air) and attempt to turn off, or even change the thermostat. I find this so totally unacceptable, I have burned myself twice. After my second injury, I packed up the unit and decided to try and give it to someone who might use it in a place where they would not need to keep it under a desk.
Bottom line? If you want this for a garage and can access the back without difficulty---then go for it. It does produce the highest heat volume of any unit I've used. But, I've had to go out to the store and purchase a new unit with controls located on the top front----where they should be.
I keep thinking to myself, perhaps the folks in the early 50s (when this heater was first developed) always expected the controls on the rear. Perhaps they only used them in their workshops? I'm a concert pianist, not an engineer. But if I purchased a piano with damper pedals facing away from my feet---you'd better believe I'd be on the phone quicker than you can say Beethoven! (by the way, Beethoven (1770-1827) was an eminent composer of serious music ---he is not a dog!).

if you want to heat anything bigger do not buy. i was very disappointed in my purchase, but nobodyi wanted to take it back.
