Summary: Works as Described - Handy Tool
Comment: The Troy drywall lift works great. Assembly is pretty easy, really did not need the instructions. The lift allows me to install drywall on 9 foot ceilings in my home without assistance. I have not tried any wall installation yet but I think it will work fine.

Comment: This drywall panel hoist jack lifer is great. I have used it to complete a basement and the hoist worked very well. I did not have any problems with it.

Summary: Troy Drywall Panel Hoist
Comment: I have hung my fair share of drywall and over the years have used several different models of hoists, most of them MUCH more expensive than this one and none of them do the job any better. Most recently I spent $[...]/day renting a hoist that was on its last legs and decided to just buy one. After doing the research, I couldn't justify spending 10 times (or more) than I spent on this one. I figured I'd give it a shot and if it turned out to be a piece of crap I'd chalk it up to a lesson learned. The hoist arrived on time and like many of the other reviews I've read, looking like it had been shipped to Iraq and back, given the appearance of the packaging. I don't know if it is the weight or what, but the box was literally falling apart around the hoist. The hoist itself, however, was undamaged. I put it together in about three minutes using a flathead screwdriver one time and got down to business. The hoist works as well as any other hoist, even the high dollar ones. I laugh when I think about people spending $[...] for a lift that isn't any better than this one. Save yourself a ton of money and just get this one...

Summary: This is an amazing deal
Comment: I am a painting contractor, not a professional drywall installer. But I do maybe one or two small drywall jobs a year. Previously, I would have to spend $30/day to rent a lift. The local rental store near my place closed, so I was forced to look at purchasing a drywall lift. I once looked at picking one up a little while back, but they all ran about $700. Once I found this one on Amazon I couldn't help but be skeptical. After reading the reviews and adding on the shipping costs, this turned out to be the lowest price out of them all so I took a chance and ordered it to finish the drywall ceiling in my kitchen.

The lift arrived on time, in a large cardboard box. One or two of the plastic bumpers were broke, but they are unimportant. I put them on and wrapped them with duct tape, and that corrected the problem.

So, the lift: It is built strong. The parts all move well, and everything I've seen so far is no less of quality then the $700 lifts out there. I love this thing. This will pay for itself after one week.

If you are afraid of picking up somehting flimsy, trust me, this is well worth the money.

Editorial Reviews:

Our Troy Drywall Lift is made from an all welded steel construction, tool-free assembly and teardown, single stage winch with brake, and can be used by one person. It has a 11' maximum reach for horizontal ceilings, and 15' maximum reach for walls (determined by the 11' max lift and half the length of drywall). It can hold a 4' x 16' single sheet capacity, with a 150 lbs load rating, has 5" casters, and weighs 110lbs. MaxTool also backs up this lift with a Two Year Warranty for parts or factory defects.
