Summary: I'm blown away . . .
Comment: I'm very happy with my Weed Eater Featherlite blower. I note from the other reviews, several complaints of hard starting, and a pull cord that doesn't want to retract.

Mine is 3 or 4 years old and always starts reliably on 5 or 6 quick pulls and performs great. Of course I read and followed the starting insructions and use a correct 2-cycle fuel mixture ----- rather than the alternate method of just taking it out of the box, dumping some gas/oil in it, and then maniacally yanking on the starter cord. I will also note that I purchased mine new, and not "reconditioned" (that experience can vary WIDELY).

The vibration dampened handle is fairly effective, and the unit is indeed lightweight but powerful. The neighbors will be impressed as you easily one hand this bad boy while holding your favorite cold beverage in the other, as you clear those walks while admiring that freshly mown lawn. The discharge chute snaps on easily and locks positively to stay in place with no further attention.

I'm subtracting a star because the pull starter mechanism does indeed have a bit of a propensity to drag and rewind slowly. My Weed Eeater edger has a similar characteristic . . . perhaps they use a lubricant that dries and gums up. This can be easily mitigated by a generous bath of brake parts cleaner spray into the mechanism via the cord hole (or drill a small access hole in the mechanism shroud).

This blower is a great performer and great value. I would not hesitate to buy another. Happy blowing.

Summary: Bad Deal
Comment: I purchased the Weed Eater Featherlite blower at Wal-mart for 69.95 and it worked great 3 times then the pull cord would not retract. I returned it and recieved a new one and used it 3 times and then had the same problem. Poulan/Weedeater will do nothing except direct me to their autherized dealer who will not fix it without a reciept, which I do not have. The serial number shows it was produced 4/9/07 but Northern Tool does not want to fix it without a reciept even thought Weed Eater says you don't need a reciept and Northern tool says their policy is to have one. Poulan says "Oh well try another repair shop. So I'm stuck with a defective product that no one wants to fix and Weed Eater could care less.

Summary: Great Product, but ad said new
Comment: When I ordered this product, I was under the impression it was new. There was no indication anywhere, including during check-out process, that this was reconditioned. I learned it was reconditioned only after the product had shipped from the manuafacturer who stated "Recon" in their shipping confirmation documenation. I've complained to Amazon about the mis-repesentation. I'm sure their descriptions will be more carefully worded in the future.

The product itself seems great. I only used it a few times. The season has ended for which I purchased it. I will be better able to evaluate the product's worthiness in the Spring.

Summary: Unbelevable, a gas blower for $50.00!
Comment: I am very impressed by my new blower, and very satisfied with my purchase.

I wanted a lightweight gas blower for a long time, but I was too cheap to drop the $100+ to buy one.

My Featherlite arrived today. Came complete with enough oil to mix with a gallon of gas. I pulled it out of the box, snapped on the hose, added the gas, and fired it up! 6 pumps on the primer and 5 pulls of the starter at full choke, followed by about 3 pulls at 1/2 choke made it start easily. The blower ran perfectly on every speed setting from low to high. I hit the choke instead of the throttle a couple of times, and choking it in any throttle position kills the engine immediately.

I don't know why I suffered with an extension cord and my silly electric blower for so long! After using this new gas blower once, I realize it would have been worth an $100+ investment a long time ago. It is amazingly light, and amazingly powerful. A really great little tool.

Summary: Its Light, Its Cheap and Its Junk !
Comment: I bought this blower because it was light weight and the price seemed good. However I have been nothing but disappointed with this since I bought it. First it is very difficult to start. Now one may think that is a characteristic of small gas engines, but that is not so for my other tools. (For example my Troy Bilt edger starts on the first pull every time.) Sometimes when you are starting the unit, the pull string does not retract all the way. Eventually when it shuts off the string will retract except for this last time I tried starting it. The unit is in the garage at the moment with the drawstrng hanging out of it and no way to start it now !

Once you do get the thing to start, it does a good job at blowing, but the controls for adjusting the throttle are limited. It is difficult to get it to blow just a little, its either all or nothing.

Getting it to stop is also a little annoying. You have to back off the throttle and then give it full choke in order for the thing to shut off.

Tomorrow is trash day where I live and this unit will be on the top of the garbage can. Its too bad there is not an option to give this item 0 stars.
