Summary: Heavy but good.
Comment: Okay, so I haven't used this saw to cut tile yet, but I have bought it and assembled it and I guess that i can give a review on that portion of the purchase. First of all, the distributer did not provide shipping information to Amazon, they only provided a range of dates in which the saw would be shipped. On one of those dates, I came home from work to find the saw in my driveway. Now, I live in a very good area, but had I lived in a crime-ridden area, then the thing would have been stolen because the box was not covered (you could look at the graphics and lettering and tell exactly what was inside) and it was left in front of my garage without any notification. That being written, it seems like it would work well once assembled and that seems to be the trick.

The "Owner's Manual" leaves much to be desired and it definitely helps if you have any kind of mechanical propensity if you are going to attempt to assemble this thing. The "manual" does provide an "exploded view" of the machine; however, that is not representative of how the machine arrives packaged because most of the most difficult assembly is done pre-packaged. I mean, the motor, motor mount, table skeleton, and most of the tile platform are already assembled, and the instructions provided by the "Owner's Manual" are very vague. Perhaps if the writer would have written the "Owner's Manual" after actually assembling one of these saws from the packaging, then the instructions would be more useful; however, it seems that the instructions that were provided with the unit were rudimentally presumed.

That being written, once the saw is assembled properly it seems to be a wonderful piece of equipment that will last a great many years of service; however, getting to that point is somewhat of a challenge.

One word of advice: when "squaring the saw" align the rails so that they are as close to parallel as possible and use the bolts on the front-side metal wheels (rather than the gliding acrylic wheels) to do the fine adjusting of the x-value squaring. Y-value squaring (in 2 dimensional geometry) can be done by using a right-angle square, or a bubble-level, and the screws that hold the acrylic wheels in place.

I was able to align the rails parallel and then use the bolts on the metal wheels to achieve an x-value error of less than 1/32 by visual measurement (I'm a carpenter, and I used a good tape measure) from the point in which the blade meets the front side of the trough of the moveable platform to the point in which the blade clears the edge of the trough of said platform.

Now, I've tested the electric motor for the blade and it seems to work fine despite some horizontal vibration which is to be expected from a 2.5 horse power motor. I haven't tested the water pump, or the action with a section of tile, but I have no doubts that the machine will cut like a champ.

The blade that was provided with the saw is very generic and seems to be of adequate quality; however, i have not tested it in cutting stone/ceramic; although, that is largely inconsequential because blades are interchangeable.

In conclusion, I am happy with my purchase. The saw is "portable" in that the water reservoir is removeable; the frame is detacheable from the stand, and the stand is collapsible; however, the friggin' thing weighs 135 lbs. Granted, if the resevoir pan is removed and the stand is detached, the frame/motor/blade assembly can be removed from the stand; however, this would harm the back of someone performing the act with any frequency, due to the wieght.

One word of advice, if you are attempting to assemble this saw by yourself, then employ a stack of books or a box full of random items approximately 2 ft. tall because, since the stand is collapsible, it is nearly impossible, due the the weight, to get the frame onto the stand with only one set of hands.

In any event, I recommend the saw, it is of fine quality and workmanship. I only wish that there was some way to lock the metal wheels into place--in the alignment of the saw--because I fear that, through much use, the platform will fall out of alignment. I recommend that you check the x-axis alignment of the saw every 25-30 cuts to verify the alignment because the adjustment method of this axis seems unstable.
